Patient and Public Engagement

Our vision is that all aspects of the work of the South East Clinical Networks will continue to be informed, directly and indirectly, by people who have experience of using health and care services.

We aim to place the patient at the centre of everything we do and to promote a culture of meaningful engagement at all levels of our work. Our Engagement Examples show how this is embedded in practice.

We have been involved in every stage of a process and I know from my own experience, that challenges/queries are always listened to and thrown into the "mix"! In fact, there have been meetings where the PPE voice has dominated that meeting! (CN Patient Representative)

The People Bank

The Clinical Networks employ a range of methods to involve patients, carers and the public in order to seek the range of views of the local population. This involves working with individuals as well as voluntary sector organisations and special interest community groups who are willing to act as a conduit to the communities we need to reach. Fundamental to this approach is maintaining a database or People Bank of about 400 interested patients, carers, members of the public and contact organisations. We try and provide opportunities to Get Involved as much or as little as people choose.

The PPE Opportunities Bulletin

Members of the People Bank receive a regular PPE Opportunities Bulletin which is a round-up of opportunities to get involved in health and social care across Surrey, Sussex and Kent. The bulletin is compiled by the South East Clinical Network team but includes opportunities from across the health and social care sector.

Further information about our approach can be found in our Patient and Public Engagement Strategy.
